Igbo Quit Notice: Police Vow To Stop Northern Youths
The Nigerian Police Force has vowed to stop northern youths who issued quit notice to Igbo people in the north to vacate the region.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris called on all States Commissioners of Police and Assistant Inspector General of Police to prepare themselves against the plan by the youths to perpetrate crime.

Idris said that it is the responsibility of the police to stop the northern youths who are threatening other ethnic nationalities in the region.
As he put it, “We have the responsibility to stop them. I think the Nigerian Police Force have responsibility to stop these groups and I think the announcement was made by some groups that called themselves by Arewa.”

The police boss said that the group or any other group had no authority to threaten any ethnic group in the north, saying it is illegal to do such a thing.

He said that though the police had not yet arrested anybody, the security agent would prevent the group from carrying out the threat.

“I want all of us to be at alert, to note that anybody, individual or any group that attempts to prevent any Nigerian from carrying out his daily activities, we have responsibilities to ensure that those guys are stopped by all means,” he said.

Idris said that the present case would be handled the way of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, in which their leader was arrested and prosecuted.

“We are adopting the same procedure as we did to calm down the threat by IPOB,” the police boss posited.
