From Audio Visual First, harvest of movies

 At the premiere
A communications and entertainment company, Audio Visual First, premieres four new films – Beneath Her Veil, Night for Sex, Where Does Beauty Go? and One Minute Man – in Lagos, AKEEM LASISI writes
As the Nigerian film industry strives to reinvent itself, an organisation, Audio Visual First, has unveiled some initiatives to enrich people’s entertainment experience. The group comprising seasoned advertising communications professionals and content professionals did this in Lagos on Sunday, when it premiered four films – Beneath Her Veil, Night for Sex, Where Does Beauty Go? and One Minute man.
AVF did this under the ‘50 Naira Story Initiative’, which aims at churning out not less than 18 movies annually. The company says with the Nigerian movie industry having grown from near obscurity and risen to be the second biggest film industry in the world, even if in terms of sheer number of movies released, there is a lot of things to appreciate.
It adds, “We believe this can be improved upon by attaining the same ranking in the world in absolute terms of quality and production values and not just share numbers. AVF ‘50 Naira Story Initiative’ has created a structure where movies are produced with a model quite reminiscent of a factory production line. We have assembled personnel working on the project. Our mandate is to produce 18 movies each year, with an aim of discovering new talents and creating more job opportunities for industry practitioners, as well as positioning the country’s vast people and resource in a positive light to the rest of the world.”
The producer’s note indicates that in ‘Beneath her Veil’, Dede Okosun tries to get her husband to agree to a divorce at the same time her former best friend’s ex-husband, Toni Akinbami, is trying to ensure a friendly relationship.
“Nothing goes well on both end and the night ends in a disaster. The morning after is worse as Dede watches her husband get shot brutally right in front of her. Free from her troubled past and determined to seek love and forgiveness from the people she has hurt in the past, she begins to look for a way to get back in her best friend’s good books,” it adds.
Written by Tomilola Adeyemo, directed by Adeyinka Oduniyi and produced by Oyeronke Orijajogun, the movie features Olumide Bakare, Kalu Ikeagwu, Wole Ojo, Peggy Eloho Ovire, Tina Mba, Moyo Lawal, Yeni Kuti and many more.
In ‘Night for Sex’, two couples are on a second honeymoon to spice up their relationship, hoping to blur a past of emotional abuse and infidelity. Unfortunately for them, their spouses have a hidden agenda that invokes a lot of intrigues in the movie. It features Moyo Lawal, Mary Njoku, Kalu Ikeagwu, Chinedu Emmanuel “NEDU”, Akinwale Sodade “Wale Rubber” and Mary Lazarus.
It was written and directed by Abiodun Williams and produced by Orijajogun.
