Mimiko's return to PDP, a well deserved homecoming - David Mark

Senate President, David Mark, has described the decision of the Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a well deserved homecoming.

He also commended Mimiko for initiating and executing massive developmental projects and programmes for the benefit of the people of the state, noting that the projects had improved the quality of lives of Ondo State residents.

Mark stated this on Tuesday night, at a Command Performance organised for him and his course mates, at the Nigerian Defence Academy, who were in the state to hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The senate president, who is also the Chairman of the 1967 Third Regular Course of the NDA, said the movement of Mimiko would usher in improved development for the state.

Mark described as very impressive, the achievements of Mimiko in the areas of health, education, youth empowerment, security and poverty alleviation, among others.

He said the current administration in the state, would no doubt, leave behind, an enduring legacy of good governance and performance worthy of emulation.

Recalling his last visit to the state, the Senate President said “the last time I visited, I went round and saw the Mother and Child Hospital, a unique hospital for women and children.

“What disgusts me in a public hospital is the odour, but in the case of the Mother and Child Hospital, that disgusting odour associated with public hospitals is not there. If my food falls at the Mother and Child Hospital, I would pick it up and eat.”

He said: “I am leaving Ondo State with a better impression of the state. I want to congratulate Governor Mimiko for putting together, young men and women who are working with him to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ondo State.

“By the time my colleagues go round they will see the giant strides you have taken to build Ondo State to an enviable status.

He said: “Governor Olusegun Mimiko is going to leave behind, a legacy of good governance in this state. I am not surprised because you are a child of the great party called, PDP.

“I want to warmly welcome you back home (PDP), because this is where you originally belong to and I want to congratulate you for coming back home. On behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Chairman of our party, I warmly welcome you home.”
