21-year-old arrested for murder, cultism in Imo

THE Imo State Police Command on Tuesday paraded a 21-year-old man, Chinasa Oguamanam, for his alleged involvement in armed robbery, murder and cultism.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended by the operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state on August 23.
According to Enwerem, the suspect was a member of Vikings confraternity, which had been terrorising a part of the state capital.

Officers of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a ‘mentally deranged’ couple in possession of various human parts under a Lagos bridge at Cele NICA bus stop, Ojo on the Mile 2 – Badagary expressway.
The bust, made by detectives attached to Ijanikin Police Station, caused panic as residents tried to catch a glimpse of the couple whom they claimed were pretending to be mad in order to shield people from knowing that they actually deal on human parts.

The Nigerian Police Force has vowed to stop northern youths who issued quit notice to Igbo people in the north to vacate the region.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris called on all States Commissioners of Police and Assistant Inspector General of Police to prepare themselves against the plan by the youths to perpetrate crime.

Idris said that it is the responsibility of the police to stop the northern youths who are threatening other ethnic nationalities in the region.

The association of herdsmen, known as Miyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Taraba State chapter, has embarked on a seven-day warning strike.

At present, livestock activities in Jalingo, Taraba State have been paralysed with total closure of major abattoirs in the city.

The herdsmen had on Monday besieged the State House of Assembly to protest the anti-grazing bill being sponsored by the state Governor Darius Ishaku.

They gave the lawmakers seven days ultimatum to drop the bill or face strike, which they had since started on Tuesday.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has expressed optimism about the performance of the 2017 Appropriation Bill, which he signed into law on Monday.

He appended his signature on the budget after receiving instruction from President Muhammadu Buhari to do so, according to the Senior Special Assistant to Buhari on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.

A woman who simply identified herself as Philomena, a native of Yala Local Government Area in Cross River State has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over her daughter, Joy Odama who allegedly died in the residence of one Alhaji Usman Adamu.

The mother of the deceased called on the police IG to intervene so that the suspected Adamu could be arrested over the death of her daughter.

She told our correspondent that her daughter was at the Alhaji Adamu’s residence located at Ibro Quarters, Old Karmo village, Federal Capital Territory on December 20, 2016 when the news of her death came to her.

It also seized three other properties in Abuja allegedly belonging to Patience, wife of the former president Goodluck Jonathan.
