Salesgirl dumps day-old infant by roadside, accuses partner


A salesgirl, Ifunanya Eme, has been captured by the police in the Ajangbadi range of Lagos State, for professedly dumping her day-old child young lady by the roadside.

Our reporters learnt that Eme, who hails from Enugu State, was captured on Tuesday by policemen at the Ilemba Hausa division, after occupants of Solimo Street raised the alert.
Eme, who was conveyed to the Lagos State Police Command home office, Ikeja, on Thursday, told us Metro that she dumped her day-old infant since her significant other relinquished her, including that she had no method for dealing with the youngster.

Our reporters accumulated that 31-year-old Eme met her partner, distinguished just as John, who filled in as an agreement laborer with an organization in the range, in March 2015.

It was learnt that Eme, who lived with her senior sister in Ajangbadi, educated John mid 2016 that she was pregnant.

PUNCH Metro learnt that John finished the relationship, fled the territory and professedly exchanged off his cell telephone.

It was assembled that Eme was conveyed of the child young lady on Monday in her home and wrapped her in a polythene pack.

The associate supposedly sneaked out with the house and went out to dump the polythene pack by the roadside around 1am on Tuesday.

Inhabitants were said to have woken up to seeing the child, after which the police were cautioned and the infant was followed to Eme. She was along these lines captured.

The child was said to have been protected and is as of now getting medicinal consideration.
 Eme said she had not possessed the capacity to achieve John after she educated him that she was pregnant.

She said, "I am not wedded. I fill in as a salesgirl at a general store at Church transport stop in Ajangbadi. I met John a year ago and we began dating.

"When I found that I was pregnant early this year, I called John and he said he was voyaging and he was not set up to deal with any youngster. From that point forward, he had not come to see me, and his cellular telephone number had been exchanged off.

"I was conveyed of the child at home on Monday since I couldn't bear the cost of doctor's facility bill. I am a vagrant. In this way, when John left me, I didn't have guardians that I could give the child to. I hence chose to dump her by the roadside where kind-hearted individuals could lift her up.

"When a few neighbors discovered her, they reported at the police headquarters and the infant was followed to me. It was destitution that constrained me to surrender the young lady by the roadside."

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said after the infant had gotten restorative consideration, she would be exchanged to the fitting government office for recovery.

He said, "The lady was captured regarding the relinquishment of an infant. She told the police that she surrendered the infant since she didn't know the father of the tyke.

"The child has been taken into police authority and she is accepting medicinal consideration. The suspect is with us and examination is progressing. The child will be taken to the fitting government office for restoration."
