The die is cast! Before the end of
tomorrow, the life of either K Peace or Dolu would automatically change
as one of them would certainly emerge the winner of the
Etisalat-sponsored Nigeria Idol season 5.
The young chaps beat thousands upon
thousands contestants, scaled through so many hurdles, escaped eviction
hammers before they eventually got to this final stage.
However, it is not over until it is over.
They still have another big hurdle to cross, the grand finale, before
they would sing a new song in their lives.
However, heads or tails, the two
contestants would not entirely go home empty-handed as Nigeria Idol
competition is not the-winner-takes-it-all competition. Either of them
would still go home with mouth watering prizes as the winner and first
runner-up.
The two contestants would certainly turn
millionaire overnight as the winner would go home with the grand prize
of N7.5M, a Galaxy Tab, a phone, an ipod and a recording deal with
Universal Music Company. Of course, there is a sexy brand new SUV
attached to the largesse.
Then again, the first runner-up will become N1.5M richer, a proud owner of a Galaxy Tab, phone and an ipod.
Speaking to Saturday Beats, the finalists said they intend to make good use of their prize money.
According to Dolu, “If I win, the prize money will go mostly to my music. That’s why I’m here in the first place.”
Her aspiration is not different from that of K- Peace but who also has additional wish to where the prize money would go.
“Apart from music, I am also into lease
of musical equipment business. I have just few types of equipment that I
give out for events and in this light, I will invest my money in that
and also finish an uncompleted building with four mini flats and go into
real estate family business,” he said.
But when it comes to the genre of music they would go into eventually, the two contestants seem to differ.
K-Peace said he would go into his new genre of music which he called Fuji&B.
“Right now, the world has accepted it and I will keep at it,” he said.
Born Ogunrobi Koya, K-Peace said he would
keep pushing his music till the world accepts his kind of music as he
strongly believes it would be a success in the next two years.
In her own case, 25-year-old Modoluwamu
Ogunmoyero, who has been called Dolu throughout the duration of the
competition, aspires to be an R and B singer. She said, “I love RnB,
jazz, and classical and I intend to infuse them and find my unique
sound. After Nigeria Idol, I intend to start work immediately on my
single and release it as soon as possible.”
The contestants said they were grateful
to Etisalat for giving them the platform to showcase their talent and
make the world know about them.
