The Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger said it had deployed 253 personnel across
the state to maintain law and order during the Eid-El-Kabir festival.
The Commandant of the corps in the state, Mr Emanuel Ojeniyi, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Friday, said that the command was fully prepared for the assignment.
“We are fully on ground and have deployed a total of 253 personnel across Niger state for the Sallah celebration,” he said.Ojeniyi said that the command had deployed undercover personnel for surveillance at all black spots in the state, adding many personnel, including 11 officers were deployed in Minna, the state capital.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relation Officer in the state, Mr Ibrahim Gambari, has assured that the command would ensure security of lives and property during the celebration.
Gambari said that the police would also ensure that traffic was free across the state.
“We are fully prepared for Sallah; everybody is assured of a peaceful celebration in the state.
“The command has put all the Area Commanders on the alert,’’ he stated. (NAN)
