Joy Odama's Death: Woman Petitions Police IG Over Daughter’s Death In Alhaji Usman Adamu’s House
A woman who simply identified herself as Philomena, a native of Yala Local Government Area in Cross River State has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over her daughter, Joy Odama who allegedly died in the residence of one Alhaji Usman Adamu.

The mother of the deceased called on the police IG to intervene so that the suspected Adamu could be arrested over the death of her daughter.

She told our correspondent that her daughter was at the Alhaji Adamu’s residence located at Ibro Quarters, Old Karmo village, Federal Capital Territory on December 20, 2016 when the news of her death came to her.
According to her, Joy Adama was a 200-level student of Cross River State University who was lured into Alhaji Adamu’s residence for education scholarship.

She said that a lady, Elizabeth from Ogoja LGA, Cross River State had visited her home on December 18, 2016 to lure her daughter to Alhaji Adamu in the pretense to get her educational scholarship.

According to her, Elizabeth told us that Alhaji Adamu always gave scholarship to indigent student.

“That was how Joy followed her to Alhaji Adamu’s House. My daughter later called me that Alhaji would like to see me and I went to his house where we signed all documents for the scholarship. I also met some parents there,” the mother said,

However, the situation changed when Alhaji called Joy the third day asking her to show up.

“I expected my daughter to come back but she never showed up till today. When I called Alhaji Adamu, he pretended as if he never met me or my daughter before,” Philomena said.

She reported the case to the police where she was told that the daughter had died and that the corpse had since been taken to the mortuary.

“I found Joy’s corpse in mortuary already embalmed and they told me at the hospital that one Alhaji Adamu brought the corpse, claiming it was his daughter,” Philomena said.

Philomena told our correspondent that all effort to get Adamu arrested by the police had proved abortive as the policemen had continued to deceive her.

She said that at a period, the police advised her to get N300, 000 compensation from Alhaji Adamu, which she rejected.

“I want to know why Alhaji Adamu killed my daughter because the police are protecting him,” she said.

However, police detectives have launched a manhunt for Alhaji Adamu.

It was gathered that the case was being investigated by the IG Intelligence Response Team which was said to be on the trail of the fleeing suspect.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, could not be reached for further update on the investigation.
