EFCC Seizes Patience Jonathan’s Abuja Hotel

EFCC Seizes Patience Jonathan’s Abuja N2bn Hotel

A hotel valued at N2 billion allegedly belonging to the former first lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan has been seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The anti-graft agency sealed the five-storey building located near Setraco Construction Company, beside Mabushi Kado Expressway on Friday.

It also seized three other properties in Abuja allegedly belonging to Patience, wife of the former president Goodluck Jonathan.
According to an estate valuer, who would not mention his name, the hotel has between 50 to 100 rooms, a fountain, a gymnasium and other amenities.

A neighbour beside the property said that the hotel actually belonged to Mrs. Jonathan because she supervised it when it was under construction and came regularly to relax there after completion.

He said that though she had not commissioned the hotel and yet to name it, everybody around the place knew that it belonged to the first lady.

The source stated that the construction started about two and a half years ago but since January this year, Mrs. Jonathan had not come around.

“Perhaps because she is being investigated,” a source said.

He said, “She used to come here frequently but she has not come in the last six (6) months. The hotel is supposed to have been opened for business but for some reasons, they have not done so. It has not even been given a name yet.”

The commission also seized Mrs. Patience Jonathan’s properties in 3 other places, Karsana, Wasa and Idogwari areas of Abuja.
